Shout Out to BPL Volunteer Kiana!

May 23, 2013 4:24 PM | 0 comments

Kiana volunteers as a Shelf Organizer. She also helps with programs for kids and teens.

What do you do as a volunteer at BPL?
I shelve books in different sections (mostly fiction), this also includes movies. Every Tuesday at 5pm I help set up gaming systems so kids can come up and play. Usually the progam ends within an hour.

What do you like best about volunteering for BPL?
I like putting away movies because I see what's new on DVD and I like helping the gaming program because it's fun watching people enjoying themselves.

What advice would you give other volunteers?
I would tell the other volunteers to have patience. Shelving books seems easy but it's really not.

What is a typical day like for you as a volunteer?
I go upstairs, sign in, go back down, grab a cart, and start organizing and putting away books or movies.

What is one of your favorite books?

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.

Thank you, Kiana!
