  • What do you do as a volunteer at BPL?

I am a computer coach. I am to help out anyone that is in need of computer assistance. I also assign and manage the laptop loan.

  • What do you like best about volunteering at BPL?

The best part about volunteering is that I get to help out others and I get to work with computers

  • What advice would you give other volunteers?

The advice I would give to other volunteers is to make friends with the staff. They are very nice people and would help you with anything.

  • What is a typical day like for you as a volunteer?

Once I step inside, I sign in then sit at the reference desk. I help out anyone that is having technical difficulties. I also assign and manage the laptop loan in the library.

  • What is one of your favorite books?

One of my favorite books is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.

"Ronald Mirochnik worked at Kings Bay during summer 2013 as a summer youth employee. He enjoyed the experience and is now volunteering as a computer coach. Ronald is a fantastic volunteer. His presence makes it easier for staff because he is very tech savvy, so he helps the patrons with technical difficulties. If patrons need extra computer assistance, Ronald sits with them and walks them through the process. In addition, he distributes the lap tops ( we have ten) and creates beautiful flyers for our programs. Ronald has excellent customer service skills, he is courteous when assisting patrons. On occasion, he helps translate for Russian patrons.

Ronald's best qualities are his enthusiasm, his eagerness to assist in any capacity and his initiative. Sometimes, Ronald creates the flyers at home because he has more updated technology than the library and the flyers look nicer than the ones we create."

And here's what the Neighborhood Library Supervisor had to say about Ronald...
